We welcome anyone working in or interested in the field. We currently have around 800 members from both public and private sectors to become a member.

Purpose and Organization: Our goal is to strengthen and promote the field through competence development, professional growth, and networking. The General Assembly is the highest body, with the board leading work between assemblies, and the secretariat handling daily operations.

Competence and Professional Development: We regularly arrange courses, seminars, and professional meetings. We also award stipends twice a year for education, development work, and the production of educational materials.

We publish our member magazine, "INIO – tidsskrift for informasjonsforvaltning," to provide professional updates and inspiration.

Societal Role and Collaboration: We serve as an active consultative body on issues related to information and records management. We collaborate with organizations both within the Nordic region and internationally, and are a member of the International Council on Archives.

Award "Archive of the Year": We present our own award to individuals or organizations that have made exemplary contributions to developing and promoting the field. The award was established in 2010 and first presented in 2011 during our 50th-anniversary celebration.
